Inscribed Stone

Lettered masonry that records one of the six chapters.

Inscribed Stone

Inscribed Stone carries the Roadkeepers’ marks on a full stone block. Use the Surveyor’s Lens directly on the lettering to copy its chapter into your player’s discoveries.

There is no crafting recipe for Inscribed Stone. It may be recovered from structures, but mining and replacing it resets its chapter to The Road rather than preserving the old inscription.

Place in the story

The journal says the Roadkeepers’ buildings remain while their voices do not. Inscribed Stone turns that absence into something the player can investigate: a durable mark left in a wall or on the old road.

The six chapters preserve several voices rather than a complete account from one person. A watch report, ledger and work docket each describe a different stage of what happened. Reading the stone lets you compare those accounts without inventing a narrator who knows the vessel’s origin or Enna’s fate.

Use the Surveyor’s Lens directly on the marked block; sensing its direction alone does not record it. The chapter belongs to the placed stone’s state. Mining and placing it again resets it to The Road, so read a discovered inscription before moving it.
