Story & lore
The journal chapters, people and events behind the Roadkeepers’ history.
The Roadkeepers fed travelers, tended bridges and kept a light above every door. Their shelters, kitchens, gardens, workrooms and archives still show the everyday work behind those rules. Keeper Enna’s first inscription asks that the door stay unbarred and bread be kept for strangers.
Enna’s camp ledger records surveyors descending beneath the roots with six lanterns. They returned with a sealed vessel whose shadow fell toward the flame. Later writings describe burying it under the cloister, roots breaking the eastern door, and failed attempts to still it with water or empty it with fire.
The workers fled to the keep. Their machines were given one last order: let no one follow. The final chapter returns to the Roadkeepers’ original purpose and asks that the doors be opened again. Enna’s notice in the Keep says to open the gates, keep one light and let them through.
The six chapters can be read in any order. The text leaves the vessel’s origin and Enna’s fate unresolved. Finding every chapter or rekindling the lanterns does not trigger an automatic restoration of the world; the Seal of the Last Keeper is a trophy.
The entries below reveal the six journal chapters. Read them in any order.
