Ember Watch is a compact fort built from red sandstone. Unequal octagonal towers, stepped coping and a damaged flank wall give the exterior its shape. Copper lantern crenels and the glazed ember furnace carry the industrial light motif into the guardhouse.
A Cinderbound and a Lantern Sentinel remain inside the fort. Their attacks require different responses: step aside from the narrow heat burst, and leave the Sentinel’s broad frontal warning. The Furnace inscription here repeats the workers’ account of sealing the kilns and retreating to the keep.
Place in the story
The night-watch notice says that the third shift sent bread to the hospice and asks that the gate stay lit. Even this fortified industrial site preserves an act of care for another place, beside the Furnace chapter’s account of workers sealing their kilns and fleeing.
The stores notice records lamp oil issued and points to spare supplies. Those words are part of the fort’s environmental records; they do not add a separate usable lamp-oil item. The Cinderbound and Sentinel make the final work docket’s warning immediate, without proving which particular order either guardian received.
