Two unequal cloth shelters stand beside the pilgrim wagon. Visible wheels, cart shafts, bedding and a shared meal give this small camp a former life. Its arrangement is open enough to read as a pause on a journey rather than a permanent house.
The camp contains road supplies and The Road inscription. A notice about six travelers and seven bowls repeats the idea of keeping a place for the next stranger. It is one of the smaller discoveries you can search before committing to a larger dungeon.
Place in the story
The night register counts six travelers but seven bowls and asks that one be kept spare. The unused place fits the Road chapter’s promise to welcome a stranger. It need not mean a seventh traveler disappeared: the notice itself explains the spare bowl as a place kept ready.
The wagon list leaves supplies between the axles and asks for one share to remain. Meal, bedding and stored goods all repeat the camp’s modest form of hospitality. The six travelers are not identified as the surveyors, and the camp’s count should not be treated as a roster of the underground expedition.
