The Roadkeeper’s Shelter is an L-shaped inn built around the ordinary work of welcoming travelers. Cross gables, a timber arcade and an oriel give the exterior its shape. A wagon and kitchen garden sit outside; the furnished rooms, communal hearth and continuous chimney make the building readable as a place people once used.

Look through the sleeping rooms and workspaces for road supplies, then find The Road inscription. Its rules introduce Keeper Enna and the hospitality that the later chapters put under strain. This is a useful early stop for a Field Journal, Surveyor’s Lens or Lantern Fragments, although the contents of individual supply containers vary.

Place in the story

The guest ledger says “Two bowls warm” and leaves “Room for one more.” Together with the communal hearth and guest rooms, the notice makes hospitality a daily practice: a place is prepared before the next traveler arrives. The Road chapter gives that practice its rule, asking that the door stay unbarred and bread be kept for strangers.

An Enna-signed notice beside the cold lamp says that a fragment “Mends a tired wick” and gives “Light for guests.” Rekindling this lamp repeats a small piece of the shelter’s purpose. It does not establish that Enna is still here, or that the room’s missing guests have returned.
