Lantern Fragments are exploration supplies and guardian drops. They are used in the Keeper’s Lantern, Keeper’s Brazier and Lantern Window recipes.
Use one directly on a cold Keeper’s Lantern to rekindle it. The wick lights permanently, the room gains light, and resident Lantern Moths can find the working lamp.
In survival, relighting consumes one fragment. Creative mode keeps the stack, and using a fragment on an already-lit lantern costs nothing. Relighting produces no items or repeatable reward.
Place in the story
Fragments let the player take part in the Roadkeepers’ most ordinary promise: keep a light available for the next traveler. Using one on a cold lamp leaves real light in a room that had gone dark, and resident moths can find the working lantern afterward.
That small action echoes the change described by the final chapter. Enna says the doors were closed until the lanterns served only the Roadkeepers themselves, then asks the reader to open them again. Rekindling one lamp can be read as a modest return to their earlier hospitality.
The six chapters do not explain the fragments’ material origin. Their role is tied to lamps, crafting and the lights you restore; the text does not identify them as pieces of the sealed vessel.
Inscriptions & evidence
- I · The RoadThe Road asks that the wick be trimmed before dusk, making care for the light part of the Roadkeepers’ daily duty.
- II · The SignalThe Signal reports that a fourth tower is dark, showing the absence of a light as a warning.
- VI · The Last LightThe Last Light contrasts lanterns kept only for the Roadkeepers with Enna’s appeal to reopen the doors.
How to obtain it
- Can appear singly in Roadkeeper supply chests.
- General dungeon chests provide 1–3 fragments; dedicated Foundry reward chests provide 2–4.
- Lantern Sentinels and Cinderbound drop 1–3; Rootbound Keepers drop 3; the Castellan drops 3–6.
- There is no crafting recipe for fragments.

- Use on a cold Keeper’s Lantern to restore its light.
